BUDGIE STARTER
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER is a completely new
nutritional approach to rearing budgies. Instead of relying on seed or
soaked seed as the primary source of food for chicks, use PASSWELL
BUDGIE STARTER as directed to supply a more digestible and balanced
source of nutrition. Pre-breeding season, feed PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER
at about 30% of total diet increasing this level to 60% during the
breeding season. Reduce this back to 30% once the chicks have fledged and
eliminate it from the diet after the first moult. The balance of the diet
would be composed of seed, seeding grasses, soaked seed, vegetables, fruit
and other treats.
ABOUT BUDGIE DIETS
Budgie owners traditionally
supplement their breeding birds with a selection of foods such as soaked
seed, egg and biscuit products and a range of home-made recipes.
Unfortunately birds do not select for a healthy diet from a mixture of
foods. They pick out those they prefer.
A breeding supplement for budgies
needs to provide a balanced mix of nutrients in a single food to avoid
favourite food selection.
In the wild, budgies feed their
chicks a high protein diet of seeds, fruits and insects. Generally, the
seeds of native plants provide superior nutrient compositions to those of
most cereal grains fed by budgie breeders.
Millet and canary seed are low
quality protein foods because they are deficient in several essential
amino acids. Adding an animal based protein to the food of breeding
budgies will not only increase the quantity of dietary protein but will
greatly improve its quality.
Breeding budgies need a supplement
that contains a higher level of better quality protein than the normal
seed diet.
Beware of products that do not
display a list of ingredients, composition information or expiry date on
the label.
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER
is prepared from ingredients high in essential amino acids and
contains added vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients to provide
a complete diet for budgie chicks.
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER
is a nutritionally balanced, high protein
soft food for growing budgies.
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER is
an ideal soft food for other small parrots such as Neophemas, Red-rumps,
Hooded and Mulga parrots.

USING BUDGIE STARTER
PASSWELL BUDGIE
STARTER is a granular powder and should be stored in an
airtight container in a cool dry place.
To prepare a moist, crumbly soft
food, slowly add warm water to the powder while mixing. Prepare food fresh
for each day. We do not advise storing prepared food in the fridge
overnight as it can become contaminated with micro-organisms. Fresh is
best.
Feed
a heaped teaspoon of prepared PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER
per bird per week about 1 month before budgies are paired for breeding.
First time users should introduce PASSWELL BUDGIE
STARTER in small quantities
until the birds accept it. Fussy birds can be enticed to eat
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER by
mixing small amounts of soaked seed or other treat in the prepared food.
Once the birds are paired, offer a heaped teaspoon of prepared
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER every day to each
pair of budgies.
After the hen lays, offer as much
prepared PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER as the
birds will eat. Continue to feed as much as the birds will eat until the
chicks have fledged. Feed one heaped teaspoon of prepared
PASSWELL BUDGIE STARTER per pair per day after
fledging and up till the first moult. After the moult revert to feeding
one or two heaped teaspoons per week to each pair of budgies.
